why we made Diagramly.
I kept drawing the same boxes and arrows by hand for every design review, every interview prep session and every explainer post. Whiteboard tools made me drag and align shapes for ten minutes before I could make a point. Diagramming tools gave me something correct but lifeless.
So I built the tool I wanted: one where you type the diagram instead of dragging it, and it still looks like someone drew it with a pen. It started as a sketch line that turns A -> B -> C into a picture, then grew an AI that can draw and edit on request, presentation mode, embeds and version history.
Cheat sheets came last, and almost by accident. The same blocks that make a good architecture diagram (boxes, flows, lists, tables) also make a good one-page explainer, so a system design and a RAG cheat sheet now live on the same canvas, in the same hand-drawn style.
Diagramly is free to use with no sign-up, and your sketches stay on your device until you choose to share them.
